2nd Hike – DB to Mui Wo
November 13, 2009, 6:40 pm
Filed under: DB, Discovery Bay, fitness, fitness training, real boot camp

From Mike: Well done to all in attendance this morning. It took 80 minutes to walk the distance, arriving just in time to get the ferry back to DB. Travel time on the ferry was only 20 minutes which meant we were back in DB at 8:05am.
You may be surprised to learn that even with my impressive physical appearance – my legs are in some pain…
Despite that, it was a great workout and I propose that we attempt it more often – once every two weeks?
See you all Monday.

Phil says:
It was a great walk this morning – thanks guys!
The option of going back to DB and showering with one of the gang was tempting but I just couldn’t decide between back to Mike’s for a banana and soy smoothie or to Sytske’s for home-made muesli!
Just so you know, I took the 8.05am ferry from Mui Wo to Central and I was in Central at 8.30am
All well and good if you have a shower at the office, which I do …(so for future reference that option is open to all RBC’ers)

Real Red says:
Rr ran back to Db!
No ferry needed -
Knackered bUt delighted to have been there.

RBC wins charity quiz

From The Discovery Bay Angels Football Club website:
On 07 Sept. we had a record turn out for the quiz night, with about 36 participants in 8 teams. The Angus Academicals were finally knocked off their perch by the Triards and newcomers RBC. We raised over HK$800, and continue to donate to the Angels For Orphans charity. The joint winners donated their share of the spoils to the Club. Many thanks to all for taking part and being such good sports.

Discovering Tabata…

I thought I’d write early before I lose all blood circulation to my arms later in the day.

They say you learn something new every day.
Today I learned that TABATA PRESS-UP’s are not for the faint-hearted.

The record stands at 48 (8×6) – beat that if you can!

See you all on Friday…

Phil – my kid could do that. Give us a real challenge.

….followed by 64 Tabata Oblique Crunches (8×8)….
~~~~
OK – you win. 64 Oblique Crunches – are you serious? That would be more painful than the push ups.
I hurt..
After yesterday’s session, I ache all over! First Boot Camp session in 2 weeks, due to holiday, and it shows. Diet-wise, I have stuck at it….. Weight right now, after the holiday excesses, is 198lbs. Right back where I started but not worse….which considering my old bad habits (in terms of nutrition) is actually a result. And determined, from here on it, to really stick with the SKIP-SIX regime…(just eliminate the following: fat, deep-fried foods, ice-cream, sweet, chocolate and fizzy drinks)!
Raring to go….
I’m back….apologies to those who thought I might turn up this morning, but we got home only at mid-night and it wasn’t until 1.45am that I went to bed.
I’m at least 10 pounds heavier after the holiday and ready for action come Monday morning!!
See you then.
p.s we train rain or shine. The only exceptions are lightning and a T8 if it’s actually dangerous.
p.s. >> YOU CAN’T OUT-TRAIN A POOR DIET <<….my revolutionary and proprietary “Skip-Six” diet started today.
Get your kicks below the waistline, sunshine
I’ve just read this on a fitness blog – makes sense to me
“the majority of your muscle mass, and thus metabolism, is contained within your lower body”.
Expect to see lots of leg work at DB’s Real Boot Camp!
Greg – fantastic improvement in fitness!
We did the Monthly Fitness Tests this morning and Greg retains the title of “Fittest Real Boot Camper”!
Furthermore, he assumes the mantle of ‘Most Improved’ having taken his ‘Fitness Coefficient’ from 5.4 last month to 30.1 this month.
Well Done Greg!
As for me, I did some of the exercises better than Greg, but some worse! And as I missed last week’s ‘Timed Tamsin’s’ I cannot calculate a ‘fitness coefficient’ for myself! Oh, and my weight is still around 198lbs!
I missed Boot Camp…..Blame the Aliens!
Inexplicably I awoke at 7.17am. In my own bed. Clearly, Boot Camp would be nearly over. It was too late.
Here’s what happened.
I was riding my bike, as normal, past the Greens at about 6.10am when suddenly there was a blinding flash of light to my left. I looked around to see a bizarre cigar-shaped object hovering just a few feet away, exuding a strange, yet somehow comforting, blue light. In an instant there were two or three shapes around me – indistinct figures floating excitedly by my side. Yes, these were aliens from a far away land. And it was immediately apparent what they were after – my Boot Camp drills. A struggle ensued as I was determined that my notes would not fall into the wrong hands. I felt pain, I blacked out……and awoke again at 7.17am. In my own bed. Clearly, Boot Camp would be nearly over. It was too late.
So there you have it…..a tale of unfathomable happenings, but I do apologise for my absence this morning. To some it might appear that I slept in – but you know the real story.
Hope you had a vigorous, rigorous and innovative workout.
I won’t see you on Friday morning (prior date with some aliens on Thursday evening) so I’ll see you on MONDAY! Sorry fellas….
198lbs. WTF?
OK, if only I could say ‘so far, so good’. Exercise is going well, I guess the eating and drinking is also going a little too well. You can’t out-train a bad diet.
